exrTrader General Discussion / Re: Using EXRTrader with "Render Outlines"

Thank you, Mike. I do suspect it has more to do with buffer output but wondered if anyone else had come across this issue before and if there was any way around it.

For now, setting up two render passes manually or with (eventually) Janus is the way to go.

Hi,

thanks for posting.

I'll have a look, but I do suspect it's an issue with LW itself as well. exrTrader just uses what it gets from LW.

Cheers,
Mike

exrTrader General Discussion / Using EXRTrader with "Render Outlines"
« Last post by phillydee on October 18, 2012, 08:33:02 PM »
Just started using Trader and so far so good... until:

Rendering with outlines seems to cause LW's buffers to have issues? Guessing it's a LW limitation, but basically here's what I'm doing:

I have an object with "render outlines" toggled. All I need is the special buffer and shadow to be separated. However, the object outlines cause some clipping in the shadow buffer. (you can see the sample scene/EXR image, at the bottom where the geometry and shadow meet, the outline comes in and 'clips' the shadow)
Next, when viewing the Special buffer output, the object outlines appear--but only on the LEFT side of the object...

am I doing something wrong on my end? Thanks for any advice/input.

I have a sample scene setup, with an After Effects file (CS5.5) where you can see the shadow and special buffers in it's own layer.

Other than this, I'm pretty stoked with the EXRTrader workflow.

Wanted to clarify my votes.

I'm using an entirely mac based studio.  All computers are Lion or above.  Occasionally I use Win7 emulated using Parallels for some plugins.

More importantly, why isn't my icon animating????  ;D
Hehe, probably because the original GIF isn't the right size and the forum software converted it... using the right frame.

Send me the GIF. :)

Cheers,
Mike

I was afraid that'd be the case in many installations.

Cheers,
Mike

Where I work, it's the same, but we're not using LW as much anymore.

At home, I'm still at WinXP64 but will switch to Win7 soon.

I should point out that some of our render nodes still run XP, but our main workstations are all Windows 7.
